Lilith Saintcrow spares no detail when it comes to the dark and gritty world she created for Dante Valentine.
In this, the second book in the series, Dante ends up facing her inner demons (no pun intended) by returning to her childhood hell, Rigger Hall a school for orphaned psion children. Some of the former students are being murdered and Dante, as a consultant for the police is trying to figure out why.
We learn more about Dante’s terrible childhood, the people that stood in for her birth parents and the abuse she suffered at her former school.
I don’t know if I missed it in the first book, but thankfully there was a glossary in this book so it was easier to understand what was going on. On to the next book.
